Caring for your loved ones with compassion and dignity
About the home
Crossways Residential Home
At Luminous Care Group, we are proud to support the residents of Crossways Residential Home, a welcoming 24-bed care home located just a short five-minute walk from the beautiful Sheringham seafront and town centre. There are transport links close by, including the award-winning heritage railway, the Poppy Line.
Crossways offers a warm and homely atmosphere, surrounded by a lovely garden where residents can relax, enjoy nature, and socialise. The team provides person centred support tailored to each individual’s needs, with a focus on dignity, comfort, and well-being. There are many activities to choose from, and the home has strong links with local North Norfolk groups. Hearty home baked food is the norm with lots of choice on offer.
Our experienced and friendly care team ensures that every resident feels safe, supported, and part of a caring community. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to lead a meaningful and happy life.
Alistair Betts
Home Manager
In my early career, I trained as a chef - but quickly realised I was no Raymond Blanc! I then spent eight years working as a Verger in a cathedral in the North of England, a role that combined both ceremonial duties and customer service. (If you’d like to know more about that, please do ask!)
I moved to North Norfolk in the autumn of 1999 to begin my mental health nurse training at the University of East Anglia. I qualified in 2002 and started my nursing career as a junior staff nurse in a nursing home near Holt, supporting working-age adults with mental health needs. Over the next five years, I progressed through a number of roles and became a registered manager in 2005.
After spending some time working for myself while my four children (two boys and two girls) were young, I went on to manage several residential and nursing homes across Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. In 2010, I took on my first regional post, supporting multiple homes across England and Scotland. Since then, I’ve held senior positions in regional quality assurance and operations, including a four-year spell as Quality Director for the NHS 111/Out-of-Hour’s service, and more recently overseeing a portfolio of care homes for older people from Norfolk to County Durham.
I can’t say I miss the 2am drives to Bridlington in East Yorkshire! It has always been my goal to return to a home manager’s role in North Norfolk, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to support Crossways at this stage of my career.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and my cockapoo — and I’m even thinking about adding another one to the family. Who knows, they might end up helping me out at Crossways too!
I believe in maintaining an open-door approach, so please feel free to contact me anytime if there’s anything you’d like to discuss. I look forward to building positive relationships with everyone connected to Crossways.
